Commissions & Custom Repairs

Weaving new life into your well-worn and beloved garments
Are you holding on to a piece of clothing that needs repairing?
Bring or send in your beloved items and I can breathe new life into your wardrobe using mending techniques such as Sashiko, darning, and patching. Using these traditional techniques, many of which are sewn by hand, will extend the life of your garment for years to come, and by choosing repair over replacement, you deepen the connection to your garments and challenge the throwaway culture that has become so pervasive.

How it Works

Step 1: Send an image
- Take a clear photo of the item needing repair
- Email images and the intention and outcome of the repair
Step 2: Consultation & quote
I share my knowledge on visible and more delicate mending, from Sashiko stitching to darning and patching before selecting the technique best suited to the fabric and type of repair for your item of clothing.
I will provide you with an estimate based on the image(s).
Step 3: Ship or drop-off
- Option A: If you’re local, bring the item to my studio drop-off point (Arbeit Studios, 1 Trowbridge Road, Hackney Wick, London E9 5LD). That allows you to meet and discuss creative mending options and the best approach to extend the lifespan of your garments.
- Option B: If you're sending it, securely package the item and ship it to me. You will pay for both postage routes when you send your damaged item and when I send the mended item back to you.
Step 4: Pay deposit on mending repair
Once I have received your garment(s), I will confirm the cost of repair. The cost may change if when assessing your garment in-person, I find that the damage is more extensive than expected or if your repair requires materials that I do not have for general mends (i.e. button replacements, mohair thread). If this is the case, I will get in touch with you to confirm any changes and determine if you would still like to proceed.
I will ask you to pay 50% of repair costs upfront.
Step 4: Stay in the loop
I keep you in the loop throughout the mending process, sharing updates and any questions that may occur.
Step 5: Collection or return
Choose to collect your mended item from my studio or have it sent back to you by post.
